Papertrey Ink March 2014 Blog Hop #2

For my second card for the Papertrey March Blog Hop,  I was drawn to the shiny teal boots in the inspiration photo above. I love pretty rain boots, and the shinier, the better. Again I turned to Green Thumb to use this great polka dot boot image in the set. These boots are clear embossed with pink pigment ink and three layers of clear embossing powder. I combined these boots with images from another oldie, Scattered Showers. The "mud puddle" the boots are sitting in is actually made using an oval die, Spring Rain card stock and Glossy Accents. (For some unknown reason this photographed more teal than it appears IRL).

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink Green Thumb, Scattered Showers, Polka Dot Basics 2
Ink: Colorbox pigment inks, PTI Fresh Snow and Spring Rain die ink
Cardstock: PTI; Green plaid designer paper: my stash
Clear Embossing powder
Dies: PTI 2-1/4 inch Limitless Layers; Lil' Inkers Stiched Mats; SSS: Postage Stamp Edge dies

Papertrey Ink March 2014 Blog Hop #1

Another PTI Blog Hop has made it's way to the forefront of my calendar for March. The challenge this month is to incorporate anything high gloss or shiny into our design. This was an easy challenge to meet, as heat embossing is what drew my interest into stamping from the very beginning. Just something magical about watching that powder melt into an embossed image.

I dug out a couple of old stamp sets for this challenge. For some reason Papertrey Ink's Green Thumb has been on my radar of late. There are no dies for this set, but images are easy enough for fussy cutting. I combined the flower pot from Green Thumb with florals from Mini Blooms and came up with this:
My shiny-glossy is in the flower pot, meant to look like the cobalt blue pots I grow my roses in for our deck. It is stamped in blue and coated with Glossy Accents. And the sentiment is embossed in the same blue. A few of the Mini Blooms are raised with foam adhesive and a tiny bit of embellishing to the centers with colored Stickles.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Papertrey Green Thumb, Mini Blooms (and dies)
Ink: PTI dye inks, Colorbox Blue pigment ink, Glossy Accents
Cardstock: PTI
Baker's Twine: PTI Enchanted Evening
Ranger Stickles
