Online Card Class - Stenciled - Day 4

I tried a lot of different inking techniques with stencils, and by far my favorite result is this card on which I used Radiant Pearls. These inks were the first produced by Angelwings, and are no longer available. (Twinkling H2O's replaced them.) These are my favorite because they are so forgiving and blend effortlessly! I have about a hundred small jars and was happy to pull them out for this class.

This is what is beneath the vellum. You have see this IRL to appreciate the glisten of these Radiant Pearls.

Online Card Class - Stenciled - Day Three - Texture and Dimension with Pastes

Online Card Class Day three was all about using embossing pastes with stencils. By far my favorite technique to use with stencils. Over the years I have acquired many brass stencils and pastes, and am happy to see them making a comeback!

New Home Congrats!

In November our youngest son and his family were finally able to move into their own beautiful home, right before Thanksgiving. We are so happy for them to feel "settled"again! (They got caught in the housing-bubble burst after moving home from out-of-state four years ago...)
Here is a photo of the Thanksgiving table as they hosted their first Thanksgiving on their new home. The previous owners left them this custom-built bamboo table which easily seats our whole family, and then some!
And, of course I had to make a card to commemorate this event!

All Papertrey Ink products: (except Copic markers & MS punch); Stamps: Boards and Beams
Thanks for stopping by!

Celebrating 2014!

Cheers to the New Year!
Another chance for us to get it right! (Paraphrasing Oprah)

My first post of the new year. In fact, my first post since November 18th!  Oh my - how did the last six weeks of my life just disappear? There was little time for crafting, certainly no time to blog.
One of my goals for 2014 is to improve my blog stats. Actually, last year I had 34 blog posts!
Up from just 14 the year before. Yay! And I plan to do even better this year.

One of the nicest things that happened for me this past year was meeting a friend in-real-life whom I've known online for the past 11-12 years. Her son had the good fortune to land a job for a high-profile company in Seattle. Which was great for me in that his parents (my friend) came to the west coast for Thanksgiving! My friend Kathy and I got to meet and spend an afternoon and evening together. I took her to Impress and a couple of other paper stores before we went out for a yummy dinner together and I finally had to take her back to her son's condo.  Here is the photo of the two of us at Impress Stamps in Seattle. It was such a fun afternoon - one I hope we will get to repeat! (Notice that we are dressed nearly identical - purely a coincidence :)
This is card I made today using some of the stuff I purchased at Impress that day. I took my inspiration from this card by JJ Bolton. This was also my first time using sequins, a little gift my friend brought me that day. :)  I will definitely be using these more often - love the bling they add to a card.
