His & Hers - Online Card Class Day 1

Great first day of class for the new Online Card Class focusing on His & Her cards.  My cards were made using a combination of tips from the instructors today. After viewing five videos of tutorials  and tips I am feeling very inspired!

I used a pretty simple layout, using similar colors, but changing them up a bit as appropriate.

One of the tips we learned was to use different fonts in the sentiment for feminine vs masculine cards. Men like plain, bold fonds, while women a little more frilling and curly. PTI has us covered on all bases!

For both cards I used patterned Paper from Basic Grey Kissing Booth 6x6 pad, PTI card stock, ink and Real Wood Veneer paper called Sticky Barc: Cherry that I die cut with a Half & Half die. For the female card I stained the wood veneer with a Hibiscus Burst ink using a sponge applicator.  For the masculine card I die cut "Birthday" from the veneer and filled the negative with another die cut from Dark Chocolate.

April PTI Blog Hop - On Tilt!

From Nichole's Blog: It only takes a little *something* to take a project from ho-hum to amazing!  Even something as small as tilting your images or sentiments at an angle can have a huge impact.  This month we are challenging you to create a project that features something tilted. 

This entry for the Tilt challenge involves very little stamping, but is a great way to use some of those patterned papers we all collect and tend to hoard.

I used half-inch strips of patterned paper from PTI's Black & White Basics 8x8 paper pad, a little scoring, Beautiful Blooms flower Die, and sentiment stamps from Rustic Branches. Center of the flower is adorned with black rhinestones. All card stock and ink from PTI.

Butterfly Sympathy

I've needed to send too many sympathy cards already this year. Sympathy cards are no one's favorite to create, but I find it much easier to make any card when I don't need to send one the next day.

There was a recent challenge at PTI to use sequins on a card, so while mine were still out on my desk, I added a few to this card. (Hope they don't add too much bling for this occasion.)

I used Copics for the leaves and a light gray (T1) to outline the vine of the image and was amazed to see how it made the image pop. (Thank you Nichole Heady). Even DH noticed this detail!

Rosie Posie Take Two

I've been on a roll lately, using Rosie Posie again, but this time with the added dimension and detail you obtain by using Rosie Posie 2 Step. PTI has several multi-step stamp sets available now, and any one of these sets lets you feel likes true Artiste! I have been stamping for a long time now and card making has evolved into an art made so much simpler with the use of detailed images like these!

Polka Dot Parade for Easter

Easter weekend in Washington was a gorgeous, sunny and (almost) warm weekend. Washingtonians so appreciate sunny days, and are extremely happy during those first spring days when the thermometer hits 60 or better;  especially those of us on the wet side of the state.(Please don't tell anyone I said this, but it is true about what they say about the weather here. ;)

For Easter cards this year, I shamelessly cased Melissa Bickford and her newest series, Polka Dot Parade #1. As I was having hand surgery on Good Friday, I was pressed for time to get cards done for the grandkids Easter Baskets and these came together pretty quickly. I just love this little bunny! He fits right in with the herd of bunnies I've been collecting for several years,
